Do I need a physician’s referral to be seen?

As a doctor of physical therapy, we are trained to be the first provider after a muscle or movement injury.

North Carolina is a direct access state. This means you DO NOT need a physician’s referral to be seen immediately by a physical therapist.

Do you accept insurance?

We are out-of-network with all insurance providers. This is also called cash-based, meaning we do not have a contract with insurance companies…we have a contract directly with you! This allows us to provide one-to-one care, giving you the full attention your health deserves.

Do I have to pay cash?

Payment will be required when you check-in to your appointment. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, cash and check.

Can I submit a claim to my insurance?

You will be provided with an invoice that can be submitted to your insurance for out-of-network services. Depending on your out-of-network coverage, you could be reimbursed for some of the services provided. Every insurance plan is different, so make sure to call your specific plan and ask about out-of-network physical therapy benefits.

What injuries and conditions can be treated with physical therapy?

Physical therapists can treat a vast majority of pain/injury of the muscles, joints, and nerves throughout the body. A physical therapist’s goal is to get you back to doing the things you love. If you can’t move/perform/function like you used to because of an injury, chances are that a physical therapist can help.

Physical therapy treatments will be determined once you are evaluated, but will probably include manual therapy, exercises, education about biomechanics and movement patterns, and posture training.

Common injuries/conditions that benefit from physical therapy include; back pain, headaches, dizziness, rotator cuff injury or shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis or foot pain, balance problems, knee pain or hip pain.

How often will I need to come into the clinic?

We see most of our patients one time a week, with clear instructions of what to do at home to continue to improve. Every treatment plan is unique to your needs. Can’t leave the office? We value your time and offer telehealth options.

What are your current COVID precautions?

Your health and safety is our top concern. The day before your appointment you will receive an email with COVID screening questions. Upon appointment arrival, there will be a temperature check. Due to the physically close nature of physical therapy, masks are required at all times. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided.

What should I expect from my first physical therapy appointment?
Before your first appointment, your physical therapist will talk to you on the phone to answer any questions. Wear comfortable, loose clothing, allowing your physical therapist to fully see the body area affected. Your PT will be waiting for you in the lobby of the Downtown Barre 5-10 minutes before your appointment. All appointments last an hour.
